I always find myself in a dilemma whenever my phone storage space is running out and I am required to uninstall a few apps from my phone – sometimes it is a full blown panic attack. How am I expected to go on with my life, which seems to be powered by my phone? Most, if not all the apps I have on my phone are remarkably critical to my lifeline. In fact, I think the longest relationship I ever had is with my phone – we are nigh inseparable. Recent statistics from smart insights show that 89% of the time we spend on our phones is accessing various information and services through a variety of mobile apps while only 11% of that time is spent on websites through mobile web.
Much like my personal reliance on my phone apps to meet various needs, businesses are fast realizing that we spend most of our time on our phones and are capitalizing on using apps to get the attention of their audience.
It is no longer sufficient for businesses to have a web presence because online activity is fast becoming mobile. Mobile marketing is no longer at the backseat of marketing tools; it has taken center stage and it is not walking away anytime soon. Smartphone apps have become too critical for marketing success of businesses. Seeing as we have become too accustomed to being on our phones and having the world at our fingertips, businesses need to understand the importance of utilizing mobile apps as a marketing tool. I respond to push notifications from apps on my phone a 100% of the time and almost always close all ads on my phone – in fact, I am going to download an ad blocker app right now.
Why Mobile Apps?
There exist various market places online but often times trying to get the attention of your audience so that they can see a product, service, event or offer that you have feels like trying to wink at someone in a dark room to get their attention. On the other hand, if this was an app, your chances of getting to the targeted users increase exponentially and your business would start scaling exceedingly fast. In addition to increasing your visibility, apps enhance your accessibility and sell-through.
Mobile apps allow you to increase your engagement with your customers because it has a personal appeal. It is also a direct two-way feedback channel that helps you to optimize the efficiency of your business.
App usage is a repetitive activity and what better thing for your business than to have customers constantly checking up on you. Repeat visits pave way for development of loyalty for your brand, online and ecommerce transactions. It also allows you to push promotions that give maximum results.
Mobile apps increase the instances of contact that your brand has with the targeted market audience. In a world of fleeting patience, customers want instant responses and move on to the next best option if they cannot get that. Mobile Apps give a sense of community and belonging because customers feel as though they are part of all your processes and not just observers. Remember no one likes to be left out.
